Best Wineries in Fredericksburg, Texas – Treasure of Wine Country

The wineries in Fredericksburg, Texas have to be Texas’ treasure and best kept secret. Never did I think something like this existed outside of Italy or Napa Valley. It might be my new found love for wine being the reason I just discovered this. Either way, I visited the two most perfect vineyards. If you’re not sold yet, there’s only dozens of more wineries that I’m sure you’ll find something you like! Best Wineries in Fredericksburg, Texas – Treasure of Wine Country

During my trip to visit the wineries in Fredericksburg, Texas, my mom and I only spent one day in town, although I could’ve spent a lifetime. We visited two vineyards and each vineyard definitely had its own type of vibe and differed from what they offered. The two that we chose were perfect for our trip because we had the best of both worlds.

If you're looking for a beautiful atmosphere to relax and drink wine at...

Signor Vineyards is for you!

First we visited Signor Vineyards. Overall, the atmosphere was absolutely beautiful. Tables for sitting and drinking are set up under gorgeous oak trees. We picked out our bottle of wine and a charcuterie board.

The rules might not be like this all the time, but we were told you have to spend at least a dollar more in food and/or merchandise than you did in wine. So we had the bottle of wine, a charcuterie dish, and some soaps (which were amazing) to put us over our amount.

While enjoying our bottle of wine we walked around the property, found the infamous Instagram spot “The Wine Barn”, and walked through the isles of grapes.

Travel Tip: Walk-ins are welcome as first come, first serve and reservations are taken on their website for wine members or parties of 8 or more.

If you're looking to tour and learn about the process, history, AND drink wine...

Grape Creek Vineyards is for you!

Next was Grape Creek Vineyards, conveniently right across the street from Signor. This vineyard was completely different than Signor Vineyards. Its style is more of if you wanted to take a tour, learn about wine and how it’s made, the history, and do a small tasting of different wines – which I also love!

First began our wine tour and we hopped in a golf cart with a few other couples (only mom & daughter duo present) and drove to the building on site where the wine is produced. Then, they explained the wine making process, how the grapes are harvested and sorted, how the wine is made, and how it’s fermented.

After, we went in the wine cellar room and did a mini tasting and fun fact history lesson.

And finally the best for last, we entered a bar area and were able to select six wines out of their inventory to taste and sample. They were separated by white wine, red wine, ports, etc. The list describes what flavor and what ingredients were in each wine.

The tasting was a really unique experience. I tried to challenge myself and not look at what wine I was tasting and see if I could guess the flavors…and I got it wrong nearly every single time.

Bonus!  Free souvenir! You get to keep the wine glass from the tasting that has Grape Creek etched into it…or maybe that was only for COVID reasons…

Overall, visiting the wineries in Fredericksburg, Texas was such an amazing trip in Texas, whether you make it a weekend trip or a day getaway. I’m still so amazed that something like this exists in the middle of Texas. I can’t wait to go back! Trying different wines from all over the world is one of my favorite things to do when traveling. Where are some of your favorite wineries? In or out of Texas! Leave them below in the comments!
